We are the volunteer fire department serving the Dolores River Canyon and the Unaweep Canyon of Western Colorado. Our force provides service to approximately 900 square miles of open range, farming, BLM, forest, residential and ranching area protecting the lives and property of over 350 residents of the Gateway community and western portions of the Whitewater community. Our services include Fire Fighting, EMS, Advanced Life Support, Rescue, Community Awareness and Fund Raising.
We have 8 response vehicles in our fleet. These include our 500 gallon Pirsch engine, one 300 gallon 4WD brush truck, one 900 gallon brush truck, one 1000 gallon 6WD water tender, one 2100 gallon water tender, two 4WD ambulances and our new ALS Ambulance. and our new
